Fix Pay Disparity in BT Estates and Claims
It has come to our attention that a large pay disparity has emerged in recent weeks and months amongst Grade 2 employees within the business unit.
We understand that a number of Grade 2 employees have recently been appointed with a base salary of between $5,000 and $15,000 above the base salary of existing Grade 2 employees – where many of the existing staff have been employed for a number of years.
Why is this important?
We believe that pay levels within ECM should be transparent and fair. We do not believe that any new staff should see a decrease in their base salary, but rather, existing staff salary levels are genuinely reviewed to meet market expectations around pay. While attracting potential staff is, no doubt, a consideration when setting newly appointed base salary levels, we wish to point out that retention is also an important consideration when reviewing the salaries of existing staff.
We are proud to work at Westpac and within the ECM business. We believe that we have demonstrated the required skills and dedication to the role that has contributed greatly to the success of the business. And we intend to continue to ensure this success.
