RSVP: Stand Together for Truth and Treaty at Parliament

As Yoorrook’s historic Walk for Truth arrives at Parliament House, we can send a powerful message of community support for truth-telling, Treaty and healing by standing together.

What: Rally to welcome the Walk for Truth and shine a spotlight on the historic truth-telling process of the Yoorrook Justice Commission
Where: Victorian Parliament House steps, Spring St, Melbourne
When: Wednesday June 18th from 10:30am
Who: Everyone! Bring your family, colleagues and friends to hear from Yoorrook Commissioner Travis Lovett and First Nations community leaders.

What to bring: Attendees are encouraged to bring Aboriginal flags, signs in support of truth-telling and Treaty, and of course all your friends!

While solidarity from all parts of the community is welcomed, the organisers kindly ask that you do not bring any signs, flags or banners promoting other groups or causes - so we can focus the message on Yoorrook’s work and the journey towards truth and Treaty.

Want to be part of the walk? Earlier in the morning, you can join the Walk for Truth from 8:30am as it makes its way from Kings Domain to Parliament House. You can find out more and register for public walks via Yoorrook’s website.

More information about this event

We can only be our best and create a future where everyone can thrive when we listen and acknowledge the truth of our past and present. The Yoorrook Justice Commission has led the country’s first formal truth-telling process about the impacts of colonisation for First Peoples, past and present.

And now, everyone is invited to join when Yoorrook Deputy Chair Commissioner Travis Lovett walks from Portland, where colonisation began in Victoria, to Parliament, where we can transform the future.

By building a huge display of support as Yoorrook’s Walk for Truth reaches Parliament steps, we can show that Victorians from all walks of life back truth-telling and Treaty. And together, we can make sure the Victorian government is held accountable to listen and act on Yoorrook’s recommendations.
