ASU members call on the Federal Government to commit to needed funding for community servicesThe community sector, its workers and the communities they support deserve security and certainty in funding from the Federal Government. Without an increase in indexation funding in the October Budget, community service providers will struggle to maintain services and staffing levels to support some of the most vulnerable in our community.677 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Australian Services Union

QANTAS: We want a fair deal for all workersWorkers who have been targeted by Qantas only want their right to collective bargain and negotiate their pay and conditions. Australian Services Union members at Qantas are standing shoulder to shoulder to fight this every step of the way. We all work for one airline and have been part of one workplace agreement and one set of workplace conditions for over 20 years. We need a decent pay rise that keeps up with the cost of living not one that sends us backwards. That’s our wages policy. Qantas, workers want a fair deal for ALL staff now.615 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Australian Services Union

Stand Up For Super! Pay super on every dollar earned & get super working for womenThe Australian Services Union is campaigning to Get Super Working For Women, following research which showed that the superannuation system is failing women. Women are retiring into poverty, with only, on average, half as much superannuation as men.2,814 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Australian Services Union

DON’T DELAY OUR PAY RISE: Wages cannot go backwardsAustralia has a cost-of-living crisis. Rent, petrol, food, childcare, are all going up. Inflation is rising. Slow wage growth is fast outstripping the cost of living. Our claim for a 5.5% rise to the minimum wage is critical for workers to keep their heads above water. The Annual Wage Review is the ONLY guaranteed wage increase anywhere in the economy. Your pay rise only comes about from union members coming together to win what we need and deserve. Supporting our claim would mean workers are better off. Remember, improving the minimum wage benefits all of us. Without a real pay rise delivered now, wages will continue to go backwards. ASU member, Harvey, says it all: “When you’re paying rent, bills and food with the entirety of your wage, an additional $40 per week would go a long way.” Make sure you have your say in your wage increase.,get involved and join the union to win the pay increase you need. All workers deserve the chance to plan for the future. And we cannot afford another delay.182 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Australian Services Union

Paid Isolation Leave to protect all workersWorkers have carried Australia through this pandemic. Many essential workers are still at constant risk of community or workplace exposure to COVID. As we move into the next phase of the pandemic, all workers, including casuals, must have access to Paid Isolation Leave to reduce the risk of COVID spreading, take the steps needed to keep everyone safe and without losing any income. The requirements for workers to test, trace, isolate or quarantine are going to be with us for an extended period, and could increase for people working in frontline jobs if they experience more regular exposure at work. Workers will need Paid Isolation Leave to get us through this next phase of the pandemic rather than rely on depleted or non-existent leave balances. We need Paid Isolation Leave to protect our families and communities, and stop the spread of COVID-19. Paid Isolation Leave is critical to make sure workers or someone they care for can safely test, isolate or quarantine – and keep their families, communities and workmates safe.1,151 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Australian Services Union

Don’t Close the Door – Save Homelessness Services! In the last year 290,500 Australians sought help from specialist homelessness services. These critical services support people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, including vulnerable groups such as women and children escaping domestic and family violence. If the Federal Government goes ahead with this $50m cut, critical services will be closed and jobs lost across Australia. Homelessness services were not meeting demand pre COVID-19 and are now under extreme pressure due to the impact of COVID-19 and economic recession. To rebuild out of this crisis and be able to support our most vulnerable Australians we cannot afford to lose hundreds of critical frontline homelessness workers. We call on the Morrison Government to ensure it continues and indexes its existing level of funding for these critical community services so workers are paid properly and able to continue to focus on supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community. Don’t close the door on homelessness services!2,454 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Australian Services Union

Stop the Fee Hikes on Social and Community Services Degrees! The Social and Community Services sector is growing and will be vital to supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged members of our community in the COVID recovery and as we enter a recession. The sector relies on a pipeline of Social Work and related degree graduates to fill critical roles in its workforce. The workforce is predominantly a female workforce and low-paid. Already, there are workforce shortages in this essential sector. The Government’s proposed fee increases in Social Work and related fields will only further exacerbate these workforce shortages – in both recruitment and retention – that exist in this critical sector. It will disproportionately impact women who work in this sector, creating barriers for both entry and career advancement. The Government’s proposed fee increases for these degrees also overlooks recent State and Commonwealth Government initiatives or inquiries that have set or recommended minimum degree standards for employment in the social assistance sector.1,866 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Australian Services Union

Extend JobKeeper and create AviationKeeper support for all airlines workers to Keep Australia FlyingCOVID-19 has had a devastating impact on ASU members who work for airlines or in ground handling. It is clear that it will take airlines longer to bounce back than other parts of the economy, and it is unlikely that people will resume interstate and international travel at the pre-COVID-19 rates for some time. The Government is planning its next steps for the economic recovery right now, and we need to take urgent action to ensure that they back Australian aviation workers.9,192 of 10,000 SignaturesCreated by Australian Services Union
