Fix Reservoir East Primary School

Reservoir East Primary School received some exciting news last week from Robin Scott, our state local member. He announced that our school will be receiving $6.3 million funding in the next budget to build a new school. We would like to sincerely thank Robin Scott for his support and hard work in advocating for our school. In addition, we would like to express our utmost appreciation to our dedicated parents and friends who have put in massive effort lobbying on our behalf. We are incredibly lucky to have such a supportive community and parent group.

Fix Reservoir East Primary School

Reservoir East Primary School is a vibrant, multicultural community led by an outstanding and dedicated team of teachers and staff but our school is old and falling down.

We love our school but our classrooms are unsafe! They’re falling down because of damage from flooding, weather and old age. Our kids can’t learn while the buildings are falling down around them!

Please take a minute to tell James Merlino and the Andrews Government to allocate funding to Reservoir East Primary School in the 2018 State Budget so that we can fix our classrooms.

Why is this important?

Our school is vibrant and diverse. Our kids come from so many different backgrounds - over 50% speak a language other than English at home and around 8% are Aboriginal. The majority of our kids come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds but they deserve excellent classrooms and playgrounds as much as kids who are lucky enough to live in more affluent circumstances.

It’s not fair that our kids have to learn in classrooms that leak when it rains, are hot in summer and freezing in winter, and which are falling apart. Other schools in neighbouring suburbs have received millions of dollars to fix and rebuild classrooms but Reservoir East Primary keeps missing out.

All kids, including ours, deserve a safe and healthy school to learn, play and thrive in. Help us fix Reservoir East Primary!

Reasons for signing

  • I signed this because this is a wonderful primary school in an area full of families with children who need to learn well.
  • Education is critical for better life outcomes. Children need a safe and attractive environment to learn in. Buildings that are falling apart is not acceptable and indicates that these children’s education is not valued or seen as a priority. Safer learning environments need to be addressed immediately by the government.
  • I want every kid, no matter where they live or who they are, to get the same opportunities and access to education. It's unfair that a school even one suburb over can be upgrading their million-dollar facilities and the kids at REPS have a roof that's falling down.
