MAKE IT IN MACKAY
Our region has the potential to 'Make it in Mackay' and manufacture bioplastics out of sugar cane.
Things like plastic food wrappers, cutlery and plates could all be made locally - creating local jobs, supporting our local cane farmers - manufacturing plant-based products our of our sugar cane, right here in our region.
I'm calling on the Federal Government to mandate the use of Australian bioplastics in packaging so this can become a reality for our region.
