The ANU Postgraduate and Research Students' Association (PARSA) is the democratically elected representative body for all postgraduate students at ANU. Our membership is comprised of over half the total students at ANU, or approximately 13,000 postgraduate students. PARSA exists to ensure the interests of postgraduates at ANU, namely through representing postgraduate student rights and welfare.

More Affordable Housing for ANU StudentsWhilst the ANU has made great strides to tackle the complicated issue of providing accommodation for a growing student population, there are still many pressing and urgent issues for postgraduate students that must be addressed. There are still postgraduate students being exploited by predatory landlords, skipping meals to pay for the bare necessities, and sleeping rough in the library and their offices to ensure that they have a safe place to sleep at night. In recognising that the ANU is providing additional accommodation for students in the upcoming years, it is not merely enough to have this accommodation available, it also needs to be accessible, affordable and adequate. Additionally, to meet the first-year guarantee, second- and third-year students will need to seek accommodation off-campus in a city that was just named the most expensive rent market in Australia.412 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Terese Corkish
PARSA Home Away from Home PetitionPARSA provides students with information, advice and support to those relocating to Canberra, and offers emergency accommodation grants to students who require temporary accommodation due to unforeseen circumstances. However, the association’s funds are limited, and should only be relied upon as a last resort for our members. The results of the PARSA Accommodation Survey demonstrate the need for the ANU to acknowledge and respond to the concerns raised with prompt and meaningful action.168 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Terese Corkish
