Don't cut sick leave in a global pandemic!

we won a while back

CBA's enterprise agreement proposal would cut sick leave by 3 days per year for approximately 82% of their workforce. In the middle of a global pandemic.

CBA should maintain 15 days sick leave per year for the 82% of employees who are currently entitled to it and raise those who currently get less up to that level.

The bank has indicated that this reduction is intended to make way for a new proposed conditional leave provision that employees can access provided they've used a year's worth of annual leave in the past 12 months and have a balance below 20 days.

Why is this important?

It’s not fair to expect CBA workers to take a cut in their sick leave entitlements going forward in order to accommodate an increase for their colleagues who are on less favourable Commsec contracts. Nor should they have to sacrifice their sick leave safety net to pay for extra leave days with strings attached.

Everyone at CBA should get 15 sick leave days per year in the 2020 agreement. CBA Group employees who currently get 10 & 12 days should have their sick leave increased in line with their colleagues.
