Save Education and Humanities @ La Trobe Uni

We call on Prof Dewar to reverse the proposed course cuts in the Schools of Education and Humanities and invest real resources into regional Victoria.

Why is this important?

La Trobe Uni has a moral obligation to provide good-paying jobs and a quality education to all regions.

The proposed cuts will have a disproportionate impact on regional Victoria. Regional students will be missing out on an important on-campus experience compared to their metro counterparts.

It is vital for a functional society that the University ensures a diverse range of education and humanities subjects are offered.

Reasons for signing

  • Totally online courses mean a second-class education, yet students will pay same fees as if face-to-face.
  • There must be equality of opportunity for students in regional and metropolitan areas. The university has a responsibility to serve regional areas and must not become even more urban centric.
  • A hummanites education is the cornerstone of all knowledge production and critical to the functional of a fair, just and livable society.
