Virgin Australia - Stop the forced redundancies and pay JobKeeper.

Workers at Virgin Australia work hard every day to ensure that Virgin Australia passengers receive a great service and arrive safe and sound to their destinations. Together, these workers have decades of experience in delivering for Virgin Australia and its passengers.
But now, because of COVID-19, Virgin Australia have proposed to make about 250 loyal Guest Services team members redundant.
No one deserves to lose their job because of the impacts of COVID-19.
Yet Virgin Australia team members are the ones who will be left scrambling to pay their bills and wondering how they will put food on the table over the next 6 months. Without your intervention, as many as 250 workers could be made redundant.
Virgin Australia often prides themselves on how they treat their team members. Team members at Virgin Australia need your support right now to ensure they don’t lose their job over COVID-19.
Also, team members have been asked to use paid annual leave and long service leave to cover lost hours since 30 March 2020 when stand downs were introduced. After being stood down, employees have been using their accrued entitlements to make up for the loss of pay.
It’s time to support your workers by:
1. Providing the JobKeeper payment to all staff who you are proposing to make redundant.
2. Re-crediting any annual leave or long service leave to your workers that team members have taken as a result of being stood down.
We ask that you do the right thing by your team members.
Why is this important?
