Considering the advice by Sate and Federal Governments, all measures, including restrictions, are to be in place for a minimum of six months. Therefore the Parents/ Guardians call on the most Rev William Joseph Wright Bishop of the Newcastle-Maitland Diocese to reduce all schools fee’s.
Why is this important?
Covid-19 has created an unprecedented crisis that is impacting upon all of society including the Maitland Newcastle Catholic community. The crisis is placing greater financial, mental, emotional and spiritual strain on families, which may have far reaching consequences.
Parents/ Guardians are asking the most Rev Bishop William JosephWright to;
Appreciate the financial demands on families throughout the crisis and recognise these costs will continue to increase into the future beyond the recovery phase, post Covid-19.
Many families are having to adapt to the changing world in which we are now living. Families are losing income due to jobs loses, reduced hours of work and the restructuring of the workforce as well as increased living expenses.
Recognise that school fee payment deferrals are just a bandaid solution and just push the financial burden for families into the future and do little to ease the minds of parents, will not assist them navigate a balanced pathway through the crisis or provide confidence for the future.
The parents are aware that many of the services provided by the diocese are captured in the school fee structure and that many of those services can no longer be delivered by the diocese in full or at all for sometime.
