End South Australia’s Public Support for BAE While It Supplies F-35 Parts to Israel

Mr. Malinauskas,

Right now, BAE Systems in South Australia is manufacturing parts for the F-35 fighter jets being used to bomb Gaza. These jets are part of a military campaign that has killed over 60,000 Palestinians; almost half of which are women and children.

Your government is handing public money to the company building these parts. You can’t pretend this is just federal or overseas business. South Australian contracts- funded by our taxes- are fueling it.

We’re asking you to immediately:

• End all state-level funding and contracts with BAE Systems while it remains tied to Israel’s military supply chain

• Audit and publish all existing government partnerships with weapons companies

• Guarantee that no future public funds will support arms used in war crimes

This isn’t about all defence work. This is about stopping genocide-enabling deals. You’ve said before that SA wants to be a place of progress. That can’t mean building the machinery of mass killing.

Do the right thing. Cut the contracts.

Why is this important?

South Australia is helping arm a genocide.

When BAE Systems builds components for F-35 fighter jets here, those parts are used in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza. That’s not speculation- it’s documented. F-35s have dropped U.S.-made bombs on residential buildings, refugee camps, hospitals, and schools, killing tens of thousands of civilians.

This is not abstract. Our state’s money, labour, and reputation are tied to the production of weapons being used right now, in one of the deadliest modern bombing campaigns against a civilian population.

We can’t control what the U.S. or Israel does- but we can stop being complicit.

If we say nothing, we are saying we’re fine with this. That it’s okay for our public money to support companies profiting from bloodshed. That we’ll keep handing out contracts while children are buried in rubble.

This campaign is about drawing a moral line. Not against every defence worker or even all defence industry- but against active participation in war crimes.

Ending South Australia’s support for BAE Systems while it’s involved in arming Israel is the bare minimum. It tells the world: we won’t be silent accessories to massacre.
