To: UniSuper CEO and Board

Stop making UniSuper members complicit in Israel’s crimes!

We, the undersigned, call on UniSuper to divest from, and not to invest in, any and all companies which make us, as UniSuper members, financially complicit in the:

• killing of tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians, including children, which the International Court of Justice has ruled could amount to genocide;

• production or supply of weapons enabling Israel’s current systematic destruction of Gaza;

• State of Israel’s system of apartheid and persecution of Palestinians;

• occupation of Palestine by the State of Israel.

The companies we are calling on UniSuper to divest from, or not invest in, include, but are not limited to:

• all those listed in the UN Human Rights Commissioner’s report on the implications of the Israeli settlements on the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights of the Palestinian people throughout the Occupied Palestinian Territory (updated 30 June 2023);

• several glaring omissions from the UN’s list identified by AFSC Investigate: Fosun International, Caterpillar, Heidelberg Cement and Elbit Systems, the Israeli manufacturer of weapons used by the IDF in its assault on Gaza, in which UniSuper currently invests.

• all other companies complicit with Israeli militarism, genocide and apartheid.

Why is this important?

It is unethical for the funds of UniSuper members to be invested in any companies which:

• provide products or services that contribute to violent acts against civilians, Israeli or Palestinian;

• profit from, or are complicit in, human rights abuses in Palestine;

• provide products or services that contribute to the maintenance of the Israeli military occupation of Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem;

• provide products or services that contribute to the maintenance and construction of the Separation Wall and/or maintenance and expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories; and/or

• establish facilities or operations in Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
