Successful Campaigns

Thanks to your support, cleaners have won back jobs before Christmas! Yesterday we had a meeting with the City of Melbourne CEO. In that meeting, we were given an undertaking that they will work with the us and their network of contractors, to assist affected workers to secure employment. Workers won the strike and have successfully negotiated a new agreement.

Win! Daniel Andrews has announced that a re-elected Andrews Labor Government will establish an Apprentice Taskforce. The Taskfoce will improve regulation, simplify complaint reporting, and establish bans on employers who have mistreated apprentices.

Christmas was saved for sixty cleaners at University of Tasmania campuses in Hobart and Launceston. Union cleaners stood together, and with support from students and the community, were able to force their employer to back down from cutting workers’ pay over Christmas. UTAS cleaner Anna Reay says, "We are all so relieved to have our Christmas back, and we want to thank the community and the students for all their support.” There is power in your union!

Congratulations striking Fenner Dunlop workers! Workers have voted 100% in favour of an offer that includes: - 5% wage increase across the first year, 3% for year 2 and 3% for year three - Better rights around rostering and reasonable working hours Well done to all 50 workers who worked hard to achieve this result and stood firm the whole way through a two week strike. Union power!

WIN! Hospo Voice members Alex and Tiff have won back stolen wages from Hochi Mama. The FWO investigation is ongoing. Tiff has won back nearly $10K so far, but she's still owed about $15K. Worker win! Because of the pressure of thousands of workers in union, Channel 10 have refused George Calombaris' contract demands, sending a signal that wage theft won't be tolerated by the community. He will not return for the next season of MasterChef.

WIN! In May Hospo Voice exposed the La La Bar Group, revealing workers were being paid below award wages in envelopes stuffed with cash. Over the last few days thousands of Hospo Voice members and supporters have piled the pressure on Joes Shoe Store over its treatment of staff. Following this pressure management at Joe’s urgently requested a meeting to seek to resolve the issues contained in Alfonso’s petition. Management has agreed to meet with Hospo Voice leaders, and allow us to review employee payslips. They have agreed to resolve any issues we uncover. Joe's has also agreed to resolve Alfonso's concerns about being underpaid wages and superannuation, and Hospo Voice leaders will meet with Joe's to ensure they comply.
