Free parking for hospital staff! #Raisethegates
The COVID-19 pandemic requires health workers across the state to take public transport due to often exorbitant parking fees. This greatly increases their risk of exposure to the virus and undermines social distancing measures.
For the sake of safety for staff, patients and the greater community, we demand:
- The freezing of all charges for hospital parking during the COVID-19 pandemic
- Investigation of extra, free parking spaces by local councils located near hospitals
Why is this important?
I work in a public hospital and have to take public transport during this pandemic due to high parking fee charges. Many of my colleagues are in the same predicament and have to risk exposing themselves to the COVID-19 virus while they battle to provide essential healthcare services.
