  • Don't celebrate screwing over injured workers
After a meeting with Allianz, Gerald's claim for compensation, and the costs of his much-needed surgery, have been won. Allianz have also agreed -- in writing -- to stop celebrating and rewarding the termination of injured workers' claims. But Gerald is not alone, many other workers have experienced this as well. So we're going to keep fighting mean and dodgy insurance companies who try to deny worker's their entitlements.

  • Coca Cola: Don't freeze our wages!
COCA COLA WORKERS WIN! Coke workers in WA endorsed a new deal that see significant improvements on what the company originally offered! Despite Coca Cola repeatedly trying to force workers to vote for an offer that included wage freeze in year 1 and average pay rises of less than 1% per year for remaining 3 years, workers voted NO again and again and endorsed a protected action ballot. Now they’ve won $1000 back pay for year 1 and 6%, 3%, 3% for the lowest paid workers and 4%, 2%, 2% for those on a higher rate, an increase on 24/6 shift roster allowance from 27% to 28.5% and more! None of this would have been possible without Union members sticking together. When members stick together, they win!

  • Hands off our RDOs!
Cutting RDOs from new employees would create a second class of employees who will have limited access to our union-won entitlements. We should not be asked to sell out our future colleagues who cannot vote on this agreement. We are deeply concerned about what this divisive proposal signals for the future of the fund. RDOs are a fantastic entitlement and contribute to the positive workplace culture that makes Cbus so good - for employees and fund members.

  • Demand an Inquiry into Lost Oil and Gas Tax Income
#VICTORY! The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that "tax avoidance by multinational oil and gas companies - and the rigour with which the federal government ensures they pay a fair share for the offshore riches they exploit - will be put under the spotlight of a Parliamentary inquiry." Thanks to everyone for taking action - we handed in your petitions in person last week. Being able to demonstrate community support for the inquiry was a critical factor in our success. • COVID-19 - Call time on Term 1
Your recent support of our "COVID-19 - Call time on Term 1" petition has resulted in governments finally taking action to move our schools to student free mode from this week. Our schools are now exploring ways to ensure school sites remain safe for the staff and small numbers of students who continue to attend given their parents are required workers including emergency services and health care workers. Critically, our teachers and school support staff are now using this time to develop and enhance the online learning provided to students off-site.
